KRIN‘s vision is to see all of North Korea reached for Christ within our lifetime. In order to do this, we must be creative and catalytic in our approach. KRIN is helping churches, ministries and individuals bring spiritual transformation to the North Korean people, among the following populations, and more!
NORTH KOREA
POPULATION OF NORTH KOREANS: 25 Million
Despite being the world’s worst persecutor of Christians, the house church in North Korea survives. KRIN supports its growth through Bible deliveries, radio broadcasts, and more, while visitors from select countries can access North Korea relatively easily.
SOUTH KOREA
POPULATION OF NORTH KOREANS: 35,000
Less than 4% engage with Christ despite its strong Christian presence. Pew Research notes that 50% stay in contact with family in the North. KRIN helps catalyze North Koreans through English programs, sports outreaches, evangelism, discipleship, and Bible distribution.
RUSSIA
POPULATION OF NORTH KOREANS: 10,000+
Due to improved relations North Korea has sent tens of thousands of people to Russia to work, with plans for as many as 100,000 more. Merchants go back and forth daily. North Korea is also receiving thousands of tourists from Russia. As relations improve between these two countries, the more opportunities there are for the gospel!
JAPAN
POPULATION OF NORTH KOREANS: 250,000+
Japan is home to a sizable population of Koreans who align themselves with North Korea. Children attend North Korean schools on weekends and evenings, where pictures of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jiong Il are prominently placed. At this moment we know of no one trying to reach this group for Christ. How will they hear if no one is sent?
LONDON, ENGLAND
POPULATION OF NORTH KOREANS: 900+
North Koreans living in London are a small and diverse group, including defectors seeking asylum, diplomats, and students. Defectors often find London a safe haven, offering them opportunities to rebuild their lives after escaping the oppressive regime. They sometimes work with advocacy groups to raise awareness about human rights abuses in North Korea.
AFRICA
POPULATION OF NORTH KOREANS: 9200+
North Koreans in Africa are typically sent by their government to work on various state-sponsored projects. These workers are often part of North Korea’s efforts to generate foreign income through labor export, with much of their earnings sent back to the regime. Workers are building roads and buildings, but North Korea also dispatched professionals such as doctors.
